Llicenciatura en Traducció i Interpretació

12861 Gramàtica i Anàlisi del Discurs C (Anglès) I

Objectius

This course has the following goals: (1) to make students familiar with the various means of expressing modality in English; (2) to make them aware of the principles that organise the flow of information in written and spoken English discourse as well as the resources available (from sentence structure to sentence accent); (3) to make them aware of certain relevant contrastive issues in information flow in English/Catalan/Spanish.

Ultimately, all these notions should help students: 1) better understand and analyse the structure, meaning, and use in context of English clauses; 2) identify and work on specific areas of contrast between English and their A languages which tend to create problems for translation, and 3) develop their writing and speaking skills to become better and more informed users of the English language.
