1. Presentation
The goal of the Final Project is to apply the general, basic and specific competences that have been taught in the Advertising and Public Relation degree. This is a piece of work to work out skills such as the capacity of analysis and synthesis; organization and planning skills; speaking and writing skills; motivation and critical reasoning; self-learning; creativity and networking. This project consists of a written essay or memory by means of which all these basic skills developed in the degree of Advertising and Public Relations will be assessed.
As said, this work implies working out the main competences of the degree in Advertising and Public Relations, which are associated with the different professional profiles of this professional sector. Generally speaking, this project pursues to acquire and consolidate the following competences of the degree:
· To comprehend and apply key social, political economic and communicative variables, which have an influence on the sector's training.
· To make critical inquiries in order to interpret data, so the student can design appropriate communication strategies.
· To take into account changes and new trends.
· To design strategies and messages on Advertising and Public Relations.
3. Contents
The Final Project (TFG) consists of either developing a professional project or to develop an academic research. Both options are carried out individually.
Therefore, the student must choose between two of the following modalities:
a) Project about strategic communication.
b) Project about academic research.
If choosing to develop a communication project, the student should write a memory about a campaign on one of the three following spheres:
a) Advertising,
b) Public Relations,
c) Social, institutional and political communication.
The campaign being developed should be based on a briefing proposed by the Studies Management. The student should apply the method already used in the precious Workshop subject.
If choosing to develop an academic research, the Studies Management will offer various themes of research for students to choose, although the Studies Management will also consider the possibility of developing a work on a theme proposed by the student.
There will be a supervisor assigned to each of the three spheres. This supervisor is in charge of monitoring the TFG.
4. Evaluation
The final mark is divided in two parts.
a) Assessment by the supervisor as a result of all monitoring process (50% of the final mark).
b) Assessment of the project, study, memory or work itself carried out by the supervisor (50% of the final mark) .
To calculate the final mark, none of the two previous parts can have an assessment lower than 40%.
Assessment by the supervisor
The supervisor will consider:
· Student participation in tutorial sessions (either in-person or virtual).
· Compliance with the work plan.
· Planning and design of the TFG.
· Sources used.
· Method applied.
· Theoretical framework (only in academic research projects).
5. Method
The academic method applied to this project consists of both in-person and virtual sessions:
In-person activities:
There will a fix number of pre-arranged individual tutorial sessions. The student could also ask for extra sessions, which should be allowed by the supervisor.
The supervisor can arrange one or more public sessions for the students to present the key aspects of their projects publicly. These sessions should serve for the university community to get to know each project's contributions.
Virtual activities:
First, searching and reading materials; as wells as using ICT's and interviewing professionals to collect information about the project.
Secondly, the student can demand virtual tutorial sessions.
Finally, the student must do all the autonomous work required to fully elaborate the TFG.
