Introduction

The course on Telecommunications Infrastructure Deployment (DIT) 
is part of service development courses and is mandatory within the Telematics degree and optional on the rest of the ESUP 
 engineering.

DIT introduces students to the development of Infrastructures for Telecommunication Networks
.

Thus, the course will present, from a complete perspective, the different processes and tasks that need to be carried out when deploying a telecom network, starting from the preliminary studies and ending with the
 managing of the construction process and the transfer of the complete infrastructure to 
the operation and maintenance department.

The course proposes to carry out a development project as an exercise to explore practical 
 the challenges associated with previous study, development planning, investment and hiring, development management and delivery infrastructure 
 once finished.

Once deployed, the infrastructure should be operated and maintained efficiently to not only provide services but also to represent valuable assets.

DIT continues and develops in detail concepts acquired in the course 
of Project Management and coordinates with the subject Telecommunications Network OAM.

Assessment

The general criteria for evaluation of the course are the following, contemplating a continuous assessment following the thread of the project that the students will develop throughout the course:

Thus, the evaluation will be conducted using the following criteria :

A) Continuous Assessment and delivery of written products

Activities within the Preliminary Deployment group (40 %) 
based on the following components:

Individual components (20 %)

· Leadership of the project manager

· Continuous documentation

· Internal presentations

· Participation in Planning

Components group (20 %)

· Teamwork

B ) Final Evaluation : based on the following components

theoretical concepts exam (40 %) *

(*) The test should be more than 4 points to pass the course.

Presentation of the final project (20 %)

• 2: Network planning: clusterization and design criteria.
• 3: Rights of way and relationships with Administrations and Neighbor communities
• 4: Investment priorization
• 5: Contracting and construction
• 6: Management of the deployment process
• 7: Building reception and transfer to O&M

 

Methodology

The methodological approach of the subject of Telecommunications Infrastructure Deployment is based on three types of activities:

• Master class: provides the tools and techniques so the student learns the basics on deployment of telecom infrastructure.
• Tutoring: while developing the final project, the student will aproach the lecturer with questions to solve the problems that the final project will generate.
• Practice: development of the final project and presentation.
