Syllabus

ITC for the Social Sciences is a core course worth 4 ECTS credits which is taught in the first term of the first year of the Degree in Labour relations.

The course's main aim is to provide students with advanced skills in the most common tools for handling data which they will come across in both their student and professional lives: database management and spreadsheets. The course focuses more on the tools' general use than on one specific programme, which facilitates a more independent learning process in the area.

Although this is a practical course students will be given enough of a conceptual basis to be able to do the specified exercises on their own outside class time. Students are assumed to have basic knowledge of and practice with computers and the most widely-used ICT tools, as well as being able to use basic numerical tools.
