Syllabus
Social Security Law forms part of the Degree in Labour Relations curriculum.
This course is studied in the third term of the second year of the degree and its aim is to introduce students to the defining elements of the Spanish social security system, the fundamental characteristics of the scope of subjectivity and the legal relationship of social security, as well as the cover that the system offers in terms of family benefits, healthcare, and non-contributory benefits.
The teaching of Social Security Law I is divided into four sections:
First the different models of social security systems are analysed, in particular the Spanish social security system.
The second section looks at the powers, structure and management of the social security system.
The third section focuses on analysing the scope of subjectivity and legal relationship of social security, as well as the financing system and subjects' liability.
Finally, the fourth section is devoted to studying protective action and analysing healthcare services, family benefits and non-contributory benefits.
Students on this course are required to read and understand legal texts and to develop the ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world cases.
