1. Presentation of the subject

A study of the fundamental elements and issues, as well as of the most relevant historic schools, approaches, work and authors, in anthropological reflection and ethnographic research.

7) Recognising in the ethnographic methodologies a research strategy fundamental to the Humanities and the Social Sciences.

3. Contents

1. Culture study objects and methodologies: anthropological theory and ethnographic interpretation.

2. Anthropology between the Natural Sciences and the Humanities. Universal rationality and cultural diversity.

3. What does the walking stick of a blind person show? Biological organisms, intentional beings and social people.

4. Perpetuum mobile: continuity and change in human groupings. Structures, systems and networks: the fractal person and the political body.

5. Filiations: lineages and genealogies. Substance transmission and influence anxiety.

6. Alliances: purity and danger in the relations. Social order and border maintenance.

7. Locality production: habitability, the perception of belonging, rites of passage and environment transformation.

8. Cosmologies: social representations and integration schemes. Social order figurations and representations.

9. Emergencies: structure and event. The horizon of imagination. Creativity and social change.

10. Globalised exoticism: contemporariness in the anthropological theory and in the ethnographic practice.
