1. Presentation of the subject
This subject is the result of the adaptation of the subject Contemporary Political and Social History II to the "Pla Bolonya", the new legislation applied at university level in Spain and other countries. The aim of this new legislation is to reinforce dynamic participation between professors and students through continuous assessment, individual learning (guided by the professor). As a consequence of the use of this method, both professors and students are expected to learn from the process.
Contemporary Political and Social History II aims to provide students of Political Science (and other students who take this course as non-major credits) with knowledge and analyzing capacities regarding the interwar period (1914-1945). This will be achieved by using political, economic, social and cultural perspectives. The contents are structured around seven units that start with World War I and conclude with World War II.
The subject aims to improve students' general and specific competences. The former are meant to potentiate students' capacities and qualities and the latter are specifically focused on the acquisition of knowledge on the interwar period. In plenary sessions basic knowledge will be introduced while in seminar sessions students will be encouraged to work in teams on more specific aspects of the subject. Personal tutor sessions can be arranged if necessary. The evaluation will consist on oral presentations in the seminar as well as an exam at the end of the term.
