Topic 1

Introduction to social entrepreneurship. Its importance in the economic world. The definition of mission and objectives of a social enterprise. 

Topic 2

The meaning of social entrepreneurship.   What is it?  Classification of the social enterprise. 

Topic 3

Social enterprise models and modelling framework. 

Topic 4

Customer interface, the importance of communities and social networking.   

Topic 6

The development of alliances and joint ventures.  Its importance and problems. 

Topic 7

Financial strategy of the social enterprise.  Charity versus sustainability. 

Topic 8

Accountability and performance evaluation of social enterprises.  

  

Evaluation  

The final grade will be based on the following percentages: 

Participation and assistance                      30%

Research and analysis of a social issue        30%

Analysis of a real venture                          30%

Individual reflexion paper                           10% 

Students will form teams with 4-5 members.  Individual student grades will be adjusted according to the contribution value given by the team to each member (conceptualization, development, presentation, etc.)  Other important factors to consider for optimal team work are organization and coordination processes using various mechanisms (telephones, e-mail, meetings, chats, etc.)
