1. Presentation of the subject

The subject provides a general vision of the great written works of contemporary Catalan writers.

This subject aims to familiarize students with the most notable works of contemporary Catalan literature. This goal will be achieved through the readings of representative texts written by the most prominent writers of this period.

In order to succeed, it will be necessary to be able to write in correct Catalan.

1. Identifying periods, movements, authors and works of Catalan literature in the course of its history.

 

2. Capacity to connect literature with history, art and thought

 

2. Interpreting literary texts by using both signs in the text and objective information about them (period, author and literary context).

 

3. Catalan language skills at the level expected from a person in possession of a Degree in Humanities.

3. Identifying essential connections between Catalan literary production and the production in Europe during the same period.

 

4. Analytical skills regarding literary works.

4. Using clear criteria to analyse and evaluate the studied texts.

 

5. Capacity to connect specific knowledge with general theoretical knowledge.

5. Using the recommended bibliography to understand and analyse the aesthetics of Catalan literary tradition.
