1. Introduction to the subject

According to the syllabus for the Pompeu Fabra University and Autonomous University of Barcelona joint bachelor's degree in Medicine, one of the main objectives is comprehensive training in medical knowledge, so that the biological foundations of Medicine and the clinical disciplines are not thought of in terms of closed subjects without any continuity. For this reason, it includes a group of subjects entitled Integrated Medicine I, II, III and IV, which will be taught in the first four years of the bachelor's degree in Medicine.

Integrated Medicine is therefore the name for subjects focusing on the presentation of health problems in a cross-disciplinary manner, both horizontally and vertically. This means that students must achieve the educational objectives for the subjects in their year, but also in the previosu and subsequent years. Obviously, this means that the degree is considered an inseparable whole and not a combination of six courses. In other words, students must understand some items that are theoretically taught in subjects in later years, and will subsequently return to concepts from the first courses that should be assimilated.

These subjects also aim to be a platform for the development of basic generic competences, some of which will be specifically covered in other subjects, but which require specific activities, such as those carried out in Integrated Medicine.

- Case 4: The dream of Saints Cosmas and Damian
