1. Presentation of the subject
The aim of the subject is to help students to approach art fundamentals from 1750 to 1820, paying attention to the historical, cultural and social context. The subject will be divided into two parts. The first and most traditional one will focus on figurative art and architecture and will analyse the main movements, genres and artists such as David, Goya, Canova, Friedrich... The second part, the transversal one, will take place during seminars and will pay a special attention to specific artistic topics and problems of the period.
2. Competences to be attained
•- Acquiring the basic knowledge about art history between 1750 and 1820.
•- Understanding basic terms and concepts related to the subject.
•- Being able to develop an analytical evaluation of works of art.
•- Having an analytical mind when analysing texts.
