1. Presentació de l'assignatura

This topic introduces a feminist perspective in analyzing crime theories, and the criminal justice system. It will afterwards focus on violence against women, some of which constitute a criminal offence. It will also analyze the women offender and the different punishments she receives. Finally it will engage in crime policy debates about the use of criminal justice to advance women's rights.

4. Avaluació

Evaluation is 30% seminars and 70% final exam.

- The student must hand out 3 individual works of two pages. This can be written in Spanish, although making papers in English will be positively evaluated.

- Each individual work is 10% of the final grade. If the paper is not presented it will have zero points.

- Students must have a minimum of two points at the end of the seminars, in order to be able to get into the exam.

- Written individual works must be original. Quotes must be, always, between quotation marks and the source of the information must be cited. Each text work should include bibliography where all the sources of information must be stated, including web pages. In case of plagiarisms final grade will be zero.

6. Metodologia

In the classes the student will have to discuss and synthesize some main ideas.

Before the seminar sessions, students must read and answer the discussion questions in order to be able to participate during the sessions.
