Evaluation of listening competency.

Theoretical session II

Contents:
Academic lecture (recorded on tape or CD).
Didactic objectives:
- Awareness and understanding of register and tone of lecture.
- Identification of the main ideas.
- Formal note taking: format.  

Theoretical session III

Contents:
Academic lecture (video).
Didactic objectives:
- Discrete item understanding.
- Understanding facts and details.
- Key word identification.
- Formal note taking: organisation.  

Theoretical session IV

Contents:
Academic lecture (live).
Didactic objectives:
- Prediction and revision skills.
- Summarising.
- Question and answer techniques.
- Formal note taking: anticipating contents.  

Theoretical session V

Contents:
Academic lecture (live).
Didactic objectives:
- Analysing and evaluating information.
- Identifying specialist vocabulary.
- Applying skills.
- Formal note taking: classification techniques.  

Practical sessions

These sessions will be organised according to the needs and interests of the student. Evaluation will be based on the presentation of systematically organised notes and/or a summary or glosses of courses. In case the student would have any courses given in English in their degree, the teacher will give help and support to the student so that he/she may get the most out of them.
